WARNING:_______DEFLATE THE TIRE FULLY BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE WHEEL AND TIRE ú ASSEMBLY. IF YOU DO NOT FULLY DEFLATE THE TIRE, INJURY TO ú PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR. BUT, WHEN YOU REMOVE ú THE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY ONLY FOR MAINTENANCE ON THE BRAKE, ú YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DEFLATE THE TIRE IF YOU INSPECT THE WHEEL ú AND TIRE ASSEMBLY TO ENSURE THAT IT IS SAFE FOR REMOVAL WITHOUT ú DEFLATION (SEE THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW). FOR ALL OTHER ú MAINTENANCE, WHICH INCLUDES ALL TIRE AND WHEEL MAINTENANCE, YOU ú MUST DEFLATE THE TIRES BEFORE REMOVAL. ú ú (1) You must deflate the tire before you remove the wheel and tire ú assembly from the airplane, but, if you remove the wheel and tire ú for brake maintenance only, you do not have to deflate the tire if ú you have the conditions that follow: ú (a) The tires are not worn too much (AMM 32-45-00/601)

 ú (b) The tires are not hot. ú (c) There is no evidence of wheel damage, including cracked or ú missing tie bolts or tie nuts, or cracks in the wheel. ú ú S 612-009 ú (2) Always approach the wheels from the front or rear. ú         ú
NOTE:____Be very careful when you go near the wheel if you think there ú is tire or wheel damage. ú ú ú S 612-010 ú (3) If the tire is hot, let the tire cool before you deflate it.

Remove the valve cap on the tire.

Use the tire deflator to fully release the tire pressure.

 WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE VALVE CORE UNTIL YOU FULLY DEFLATE THE
_______ TIRE. IF YOU REMOVE THE VALVE CORE BEFORE THE TIRE IS FULLY DEFLATED, THE VALVE CORE WILL BE EJECTED AT A HIGH VELOCITY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (6)  Remove the valve core before you remove the tire and wheel assembly from the airplane.

 D. Procedure ú ú S 612-011 ú (1) Use a calibrated gage to do a check of the tire pressure. Do not ú inflate a tire too much. To find an applicable tire pressure, refer ú to Landing Gear Tire - Servicing (AMM 12-15-51/301). ú         ú
NOTE:____Be careful with the tire inflation gage and do regular checks ú to make sure it is accurate. ú
