Lift the nose of the airplane with the jack until the tires will not touch the ground (AMM 07-11-21/201).


 NOTE: The shock strut must be fully extended and the centering cams

 (a)  If it is necessary, use jacking adapter with the jack when you lift the nose of the airplane.

 (4)  Make sure the rotary actuator for the rudder pedal steering goes to the disengage position in the air mode:
 NOTE: This will show that the nose ground sense relay, the nose
____ gear steering relay, and the nose air proximity switch operate correctly.
 (a)  Look to see that the index marks on the drum and the housing of the rotary actuator are aligned within 5 degrees.

Set the turning plates that are greased below the tires of the nose landing gear.

Lower the airplane until the landing gear will hold the weight of the airplane.

Manually turn the steering system of the nose wheel to its left side (counterclockwise) stop.

 (a)  
Make sure the steering collar will turn 78 +1/-2 degrees from the centerline "0" to the stop.

 (b)  
Make sure the piston rods of the steering actuator (which is on the nose landing gear ) be clear the ring collar in all turn positions.

 (c)  
Make sure all the pulleys, the quadrants and the components will operate freely. 1) Make sure there is no sign of binding or galling on the


 system.

 (9)

Make sure that the steering wheel is in the neutral (centered) position.

 (2)  
Make sure that the rudder pedals are in the neutral position.
