 NOTE:____You must control the quality of the test cables. Make sure the stray capacitance for the test cables is less than
 0.2 pf.

F72731-115 - center tank

F72731-117 - tanks No. 1 and No. 2

Prepare for the Trim
 S 865-014-001
 (1)  
Connect the external electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 S 655-015-001

 (2)  
Remove all the fuel from the fuel tank, and remove the fuel in the sumps (AMM 28-23-00/201).


 NOTE: If you do the trim for only one tank system, you can move
____
 the fuel into the other tanks.

 (3)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
 1) QTY
 2) EP GND FUELING

 S 485-017-001
 (4)  Connect the test equipment.
 (a)  
Remove the fuel quantity indicator from the pilots' panel (Fig. 501).

 (b)  
Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the fuel quantity indicator.

 (c)  
Connect the test harness to the airplane wire bundle.

 (d)  
Connect the test harness to the system test unit (Fig. 502).


 S 975-018-001
 (5)  Measure the empty tank capacitances.
 (a)  
Set the DISPLAY SELECT switch on the system test unit to CAP.

 (b)  
Set the CAPACITANCE FUNCTION switch to A/C TEST - COMP.

 (c)  
Set the power switch to ON.

 (d)  
Measure the capacitance of the compensator.

 (e)  
The capacitance must be 40.2 picofarads (pf) with a tolerance of |1.2 pf.

 (f)  
Set the CAPACITANCE FUNCTION switch to A/C TEST - UNSH.

 (g)  
Measure the capacitance of the tank units.
