 (2)  With pressure defueling (boost pumps operate), or with pressure and suction together, you can defuel all of the fuel tanks to the level of the sump drain valves.
 (a) To completely defuel the center tank, do these steps:
 1)  Adjust the airplane attitude to 2 degrees nose up, 0-degree roll if it is possible.
 NOTE: This will minimize the quantity of fuel that remains
____ in the center tank.
 2)  Make sure the No. 1 main tank has sufficient capacity available for the fuel to be scavenged from the center tank.
 NOTE: The scavenge system will operate for 20 minutes
____ after the boost pump switches for the center tank are both in the OFF position.
 3)  Operate the forward No. 1 main boost pump to supply the motive flow during fuel scavenging.
 (3)  You can open and close all of the valves manually if it is necessary. To defuel with the external power control unit, you must open and close all of the valves manually.
 B.  Special Tools and Equipment
 (1)  83-3124 - Main tank sump drain tool (for use with S341T001-2 valve), Shaw Aero Devices, East Hampton, NY
 NOTE: The drain tool 83-3124 can be used only on the
____ S3431T001-2 drain valve. Shaw Aero Devices Service Letter 003-11-87 Ref A dated September 16, 1988 replaces sump drain valve S341T001-2 with sump drain valve S341T001-3.
 (2)  88-5914 - Main tank sump drain tool (for use with S341T001-3 valve or the S341T001-2 valve), Shaw Aero Devices, East Hampton, NY
 NOTE: The drain tool 88-5914 can be used with the
____ S341T001-2 valve or the S341T001-3 valve. Shaw Aero Devices Service Letter 003-11-87 Rev A dated September 16, 1988 replaces sump drain valve S341T001-2 with sump drain valve S341T001-3.
 (3)  AIRPLANES WITH SUMP DRAIN VALVE P/N 65-65382-19; C28001-1 or C28003-1 - Center Wing Tank Sump Drain Tool (preferred).
 NOTE: You can assemble an alternative sump drain tool locally

Defuel through the Pressure Fueling Receptacle With the Airplane Boost Pumps and the Defueling (Suction) Pump on the Fuel Truck
 NOTE: It is necessary to operate the boost pumps.

Electrically ground the airplane and the fuel truck (AMM 20-40-11/201).

Connect the electrical power to the airplane (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 NOTE: If you are not scheduled to defuel the No. 1 tank fully,
____ you can use the APU to supply electrical power. You must have a minimum quantity of fuel in the No. 1 tank to use the APU (AMM 49-11-00/201).

Make sure all circuit breakers for the fuel system on the P6 panel are closed.

Open the access door, 6540, for the refuel station (P15 panel).

Remove the cap on the fueling receptacle.
