C. Procedure
S 868-002
(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
1) QTY
2) EP GND FUELING

WARNING: CAREFULLY DO ALL OF THE SAFETY PROCEDURES TO DEFUEL THE
_______ AIRPLANE AND TO DRAIN THE SUMPS. AN EXPLOSION, BAD INJURIES TO PERSONS, AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Defuel the airplane and drain the sump fuel (AMM 28-23-00/201).
NOTE: If you are scheduled to do the task in one tank, it is

necessary to defuel only that tank.

(3) Remove the applicable access panels for the fuel tank.
(a)
For the wing tank, remove these access panels for the fuel tank (AMM 28-11-11/401): 1) Access panel No. 1 (7202 left, 7402 right) 2) Access panel No. 2 (7204 left, 7404 right) 3) Access panel No. 3 (7205 left, 7405 right) 4) Access Panel No. 4 (7206 left, 7406 right) 5) Access Panel No. 5 (7207 left, 7407 right) 6) Access Panel No. 7 (7209 left, 7409 right) 7) Access Panel No. 9 (7211 left, 7411 right) 8) Access Panel No. 10 (7212 left, 7412 right)
(b)
For the center tank, remove the access panel for the center tank (AMM 28-11-31/401).

D. Put a New Crimp in the Terminal Lug at the Compensator or Tank Units

Go into the applicable tank to get access to the compensator or the tank units.

Disconnect the wire bundles that go to the harness terminal from the compensator or the tank unit.

Loosen or remove the harness clamps to get a length of loose wire.
S 038-010
(4)
Remove the captive screw and the lockwasher from the terminal plug on the HI-Z cable.
(a) Keep these items for the subsequent installation.

(5) Put a crimp in the terminal lug for the wire bundle with the AMP hand tool and the correct dies.
NOTE: Tank units No. 83 and 90 are connected in a parallel
____ circuit at the No. 90 probe. The diameter of this terminal lug barrel is a small quantity more than the diameter of the other terminal lug barrels. Thus, you must use the blue die at this connection (not the red die). The blue die is larger (14-16 gage) than the red die (18-22 gage) by a small quantity.
