(1)
Measure the fuel quantity in each tank with the fuel measuring sticks (AMM 12-11-00/301).

(2)
Open the access door, 6540, for the refuel station.
S 976-004
(3)
Compare these two quantities:
(a)
The fuel quantity that you measured with the fuel measuring sticks
(b)
The fuel quantity shown on the fuel quantity indicators.
S 976-005
(4) Make sure the quantities are the same with a tolerance of | 400 pounds ( | 200 kilograms).
(a) If the quantities are not the same with the specified tolerance, do the system test for the fuel quantity indicators (AMM 28-41-02/501).

(5) S 656-008Use this Task: Refuel Operation When the Fuel Quantity Indicating System does not Operate (AMM 12-11-00/301), to put a known quantity of fuel in the center tank.
(6) S 216-009Make sure the known quantity that is put in the center tank and the fuel quantity on the center tank refuel indicator agree with a tolerance of | 400 pounds ( | 200 kilograms). (a) If the quantities are not the same with the specified tolerance, do the system test for the fuel quantity indicators (AMM 28-41-02/501).
(7) S 416-006Close the access door, 6540, for the refuel station.

FUEL MEASURING STICK - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks:
(1)
A task to remove the fuel measuring sticks
(2)
A task to install the fuel measuring sticks.
B. There are two types of fuel measuring sticks:
(1)
The open tube type of fuel measuring stick
(2)
The magnetic float type of fuel measuring stick.
C. The open tube type of fuel measuring stick has a hole in the top. To use the fuel measuring stick you lower the top of the stick below the top of the fuel in the tank. Fuel then flows through the stick to a hole in the bottom of the stick.
D. The magnetic float type of fuel measuring stick has a float at the top. This float holds the top of the fuel measuring stick at the top of the fuel in the tank.
E. It is not necessary to defuel the fuel tanks to remove the fuel measuring stick.
F. To remove the housing for the fuel measuring stick, it is necessary to remove access panel where the housing is installed (AMM 28-11-11/401).
