(1)
Push and turn the head of the fuel measuring stick.
(2)
Lower the fuel measuring stick until you can see the drip hole.

(3)
Put a plug in the drip hole on the head if there is fuel in the fuel tank.
(4)
Lower the fuel measuring stick fully.
(5)
Loosen the retaining screws on the bayonet.
(6)
Remove one retaining screw.

(7) Hold the bayonet against the spring pressure and remove the other retaining screw.
NOTE: The spring supplies a force of approximately 5 pounds.

(1) One of these tools (to remove the retainer):

Pliers - Snap ring
(b)
T5-0497K - spanner wrench, to install the retainer in the housing - drawing available from Kaiser Electroprecision, 17000 South Red Hill Avenue, Irvine, CA 92714 for local fabrication
B. Access

405 Right Fuel Tank

Turn the screwdriver slot counterclockwise to release the applicable fuel measuring stick (Fig. 401).

Use the snap ring pliers or the T5-0497K spanner to remove the retainer from the mounting base (Fig. 402).

(3) Pull the stick subassembly from the housing with the retainer, the spring, and the two guides.
NOTE: You can feel a small force when the steel armature on the
____ stick subassembly goes through the magnet in the float.

Remove the latch from the stick subassembly.

Keep the latch for installation of the fuel measuring stick.
