Remove the bolts which attach the fuel line flanges to the port adapter assembly.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT PERMIT THE PORT ADAPTER ASSEMBLY TO FALL. DAMAGE TO THE WING SKIN OR THE SEAL ON THE FUEL TANK CAN EASILY OCCUR.
 (6)  Remove the port adapter assembly.
 NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this step.

 (a)  
Put one person in the fuel tank to hold the adapter assembly up.

 (b)  
Put a second person out of the tank to remove the mounting bolts and the washers that attach the port adapter assembly.

 (c)  
Close the access door to the shutoff valve for the engine fuel.

 (d)  
Move the port adapter assembly from between the fuel line flanges.

 (e)  
Lift the port adapter assembly away from its position on the airplane.

 D. Procedure
 S 114-024
 (1)  Clean these surfaces with the solvent:
 (a)  
The O-ring grooves of the port adapter assembly

 (b)  
The machined surfaces of the port adapter assembly

 (c)  
The fuel line flanges

 (d)  
The mating surfaces of the front spar.

 (2)  
Rub off all remaining solvent with a clean cotton cloth.

 S 434-026

 (3)  
Install new O-rings (lightly lubricated with fuel) into the grooves on the port adapter assembly.

 S 424-040
 CAUTION: DO NOT LOOSEN OR BADLY HIT THE O-RING WHEN YOU PUT THE PORT
_______ ADAPTER ASSEMBLY INTO THE FUEL LINE FLANGES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE O-RING, OR GIVE A BAD SEAL TO THE PORT ADAPTER ASSEMBLY.
 (4)  Install the port adapter assembly.
 NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this step.

 (b) (c) (d) (e) (f)  Put a second person out of the tank to install the parts that attach the port adapter assembly.Carefully move the port adapter assembly into a position between the fuel line flanges.Install the bolts which attach the fuel line flanges to the port adapter assembly.Install the bolts and washers to the port adapter assembly.Tighten the bolts to a torque of 100-140 pound-inches.
 (5)  S 414-030Do the task:  Gate and Actuator Handle Assembly Installation.
 (6)  S 414-029Do the task: Wing Fuel Tank Access Panel Installation (AMM 28-11-11/401).
 (7)  S 414-028Close the access door to the defueling valve.
