DEFUELING VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has four tasks:
(1)
The removal of the defueling valve gate and actuator handle assembly
(2)
The installation of the defueling valve gate and actuator handle assembly
(3)
The removal of the port adapter assembly
(4)
The installation of the port adapter assembly.
B. The defueling valve has these three primary assemblies:
(1)
The actuator handle assembly
(2)
The gate assembly
(3)
The port adapter assembly.
C. You remove the gate assembly and the actuator handle assembly as an assembled unit (referred to as the gate and actuator handle assembly).
D. The No. 2 tank must contain less than 5360 pounds of fuel to remove the gate and actuator handle assembly.
E. You must fully defuel the No. 2 tank to remove the port adapter assembly.

C. Procedure

(1) Open the access door, 6535, for the defueling valve.
NOTE: The access door is on the forward side of the front spar
____ and on the outboard side of the No. 2 engine.

Make sure the fuel shutoff valve for the No. 2 engine is closed.
(a) Make sure the fire switch is in the FIRE position or the engine start lever is in the CUTOFF position.
(3)
Make sure the crossfeed manifold valve is closed.
