AILERON CONTROL WHEEL DRUM - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the aileron control wheel drum
(2) An installation of the aileron control wheel drum.
B. The aileron control wheel drum is referred to as the "control wheel drum" in this procedure.
C. The control wheel drum is installed at the base of the captain’s control column.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEARS.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEARS COULD RETRACT AND
CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Aileron Hydraulic Systems A and B,

(3) Put the captain’s and first officer’s control wheels in the neutral position.

(4) Install the rig pins A/S-1 and A/S-1A, from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585, in the aileron transfer
mechanism.
(a) Make sure that the rig pin A/S-1 is fully in the aileron transfer mechanism.
(b) Hold the rig pin A/S-1 to make sure it does not fall out.

(5) Install the rig pin A/S-15, from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585, in the aileron trim mechanism.
F. Aileron Control Wheel Drum Removal

(1) Disconnect the cable ACBA [1] and cable ACBB [2] at the turnbuckles [3].
(a) Attach identification tags on the disconnected cables for easier assembly.

(2) Disconnect the cable AA [4] and cable AB [6] at the turnbuckles [5].
(a) Attach identification tags on the disconnected cables for easier assembly.

(3) Remove the cable guide [16] from the control wheel drum assembly [19].
(a) Remove the screws [17] from the cable guide [16].
(b) Remove the cable guide [16].

(4) Remove the control wheel drum assembly [19]:
(a) Remove the screw [35] and clamp [37] that attach the rudder pedal adjustment crank to the
control wheel drum assembly [19].
(b) Remove the screws [24], [27], [39] and clamps [26], [29] and [41].
(c) Disconnect the electrical connectors [15] and [30] from the roll force transducer [18].
(d) Remove the screws [31], washers [32] and nuts [34] to remove the wiring harness [38] from
bracket on the control wheel drum assembly [19].
(e) Disconnect the electrical connector [33] from the aileron transmitter.
(f) Remove the nuts [14], washers [13], and bolts [12] that attach the control wheel drum
assembly [19] to the airplane structure.
