(2) Install the rig pin R-3 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the forward rig pin hole of the captain’s
rudder forward quadrant (Figure 401).

(3) Install the rig pin R-4 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the forward rig pin hole of the first officer’s
rudder forward quadrant (Figure 401).

E. Rudder Pedals Removal
SUBTASK 27-21-31-020-001
(1) Remove the screws [22] and washers [23] that attach the top cover [21] to the rudder pedal
heelrests.
SUBTASK 27-21-31-020-002
(2) Remove the screws [25] that attach the outboard pedal shroud [19] and inboard pedal shroud
[20] to the top cover [21].

(3) Remove the screws [24] that attach the outboard pedal shroud [19] to the stanchion wall.

(4) Remove the outboard pedal shroud [19] to get access to a fastener which attaches the pedal
adjustment cable to the top cover [21].

(5) Remove the nuts [10], washers [9], bushings [8], and bolts [7] to disconnect the two brake
pushrods [11] from the bellcranks [6].

(6) Remove the screws [19] and brackets [20] from the rudder pedals [12].

(7) Remove the pin [3A], nuts [3], washers [2], and bolts [1] to disconnect the two rudder pedal
tension rods [4] from the rudder pedals [12].

(8) Remove the top cover [21].
(a) If it is necessary, pull the control column aft, move the pedals, and turn the top cover [21] as
it clears adjacent structure.
SUBTASK 27-21-31-020-008
(9) Remove the rudder pedals [12] from the support structure:
(a) Remove the nut [13], washer [17].
(b) Hold the rudder pedals [12] and pull the support shaft [16] out.
NOTE: The bushings, bearings, and washers will be loosed as the support shaft [16] is
removed.
(c) Pull each rudder pedal [12] through the floor beams, into the flight compartment.
(d) Remove the rudder pedals [12] from the airplane.
