(e) Make marks of the right elevator positions on the masking tape (from the two tables below).
(f) Move the captain’s control column slowly aft with the force gauge, COM-1557.
1) Hold the captain’s control column at these elevator positions (that have been marked
on the masking tape of the right elevator) and make sure the forces to move the control
column are in these limits:
NOTE: Put a straight edge on the top of the trailing edge surface of the elevator
surface to measure the elevator position at the surface of the tailcone.
NOTE: The "breakout" is when the elevator starts to move.

20. Neutral Shift - Test

A. General
(1) Use this test to make sure the elevator neutral shift mechanism moves the elevator when the
stabilizer moves. When the stabilizer moves, it gives a mechanical input to the elevator PCUs.
