E. Rudder Trim Actuator Installation

(1) Make sure that these circuit breakers are open:

(2) Make sure that you remove pressure from the rudder hydraulic systems A and B. To remove
them, do this task: Remove Pressure from the Rudder Hydraulic Systems A, B, and Standby,
TASK 27-21-00-800-802.

(3) Install the rudder trim actuator [1]:
(a) Install the bolt assembly [8], bushing [14], washer [13], and nut [12] to connect the rudder
trim actuator [1] to the airplane structure.
1) Tighten the nut [12] to 85-100 pound-inches (9.6-11.3 newton-meters).
CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE NUT [12] AGAIN AFTER YOU TIGHTEN THE NUT
[10], YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b) Install the washer [11] and nut [10].
1) Tighten the nut [10] to 30-35 pound-inches (3.9-4.0 newton-meters).
(c) Install the bolt assembly [3], washer [7], and nut [6] to connect the rudder trim actuator [1]
to the rudder feel and centering unit [2].
1) Tighten the nut [6] to 85-100 pound-inches (9.6-11.3 newton-meters).
CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE NUT [6] AGAIN AFTER YOU TIGHTEN THE NUT [4],
YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(d) Install the washer [5] and nut [4].
1) Tighten the nut [4] to 30-35 pound-inches (3.9-4.0 newton-meters).
(e) Connect the electrical connector [9] to the rudder trim actuator [1].

(4) Do this task: Put the Rudder Systems A, B, and Standby Back to the Condition Before the
Pressure Removal, TASK 27-21-00-840-802.

(5) Do this task: Rudder Hydraulic System A, B, or Standby Pressurization,
TASK 27-21-00-800-801.

(6) Remove the safety tags and close these circuit breakers:

(7) Operate the rudder trim knob until you can install the rig pin R-5 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 to
the rudder feel and centering unit [2].

(8) If the rudder trim indicator reading is not 0.0 +/- 0.1 unit, turn the adjustment screw on the
bottom of the rudder trim indicator until the pointer reads 0.0 +/- 0.1 unit

(9) Remove the rig pin R-5 from the rudder feel and centering unit [2].
