(1) Examine the standby rudder PCU and all connections to the standby rudder PCU for worn areas.
Do this task: Standby Rudder Power Control Unit Inspection (AMM 27-21-24/601).

(2) If it the unions and packings are not installed in the power control unit [4], then do these steps:
(a) Lubricate the unions and packings with fluid, D00153.

(b) Install the union [2] and new packing [3] in the power control unit [4].
(c) Install the union [10] and new packing [11] in the power control unit [4].

(3) Install the power control unit [4]:
(a) Put the power control unit [4] in its position.
(b) Install the bolt [13], washers [14], bushing [15], bushing [16], washer [17], washer [18], and
nut [19] to connect the power control unit [4] to the airplane structure.
1) Tighten the nut [19] to 450-550 pound-inches (50.8-62.1 newton-meters).
(c) Install the bolt [20], washer [21], bushing [22], washer [23], and nut [24] to connect the
power control unit [4] to the rudder.
1) Tighten the nut [24] to 350-400 pound-inches (39.5-45.2 newton-meters).

(4) Connect the vernier control rod [9] to the power control unit [4]:
(a) Install the bolt [5], washer [6], washer [7], and nut [8] to connect the control rod [9] to the
power control unit [4].

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU CORRECTLY INSTALL THE HYDRAULIC LINES TO THE
STANDBY RUDDER PCU. MAKE SURE THAT CORRECT UNIONS ARE INSTALLED IN
THE HYDRAULIC PORTS. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STANDBY RUDDER
PCU.
(5) Connect the hydraulic lines [12] to the power control unit [4]:
(a) Remove the caps and plugs from the hydraulic lines and ports.
(b) Remove the identification tags from the hydraulic lines.
(c) Remove the 1 U.S.-gal (3.81 l) oil resistant container, STD-203 used to catch fluids from the
hydraulic lines.
(d) Connect the hydraulic lines [12] to the power control unit [4].

(6) Connect the electrical connector [1] to the power control unit [4].

(7) Remove the safety tags and close these circuit breakers:
