D. Procedure
SUBTASK 27-21-00-860-105-001
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDER,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN
MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY
TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Pressurize the standby rudder hydraulic system. To pressurize it, do this task: Rudder
Hydraulic System A, B, or Standby Pressurization, TASK 27-21-00-800-801.

(2) Move the rudder pedals through ten cycles to flush and bleed the standby rudder PCU.

(3) Set the FLT CONTROL A and B switches to the ON position.

(4) Do the test of the standby rudder PCU deadband test:
(a) Make sure the rudder is in the neutral position.
1) If it is necessary, move the rudder pedals lightly to put the rudder to the neutral
position.
2) Make sure the rudder trim indicator is at 0.00 +/- 0.25 unit of trim.
(b) Set the FLT CONTROL A and B to the STANDBY RUD position.
(c) Use your hands to push the rudder to the right, then slowly remove the load.
1) Move your hands away from the rudder.
2) Measure the rudder right position from the center of the rudder trailing edge to the
centerline of the index plate.
3) Make a record of the rudder right position.
(d) Push the rudder by hands to the left, then slowly remove the load.
1) Move your hands away from the rudder.
2) Measure the rudder left position from the center of the rudder trailing edge to the
centerline of the index plate.
3) Make a record of the rudder left position.
(e) Make sure the difference between the rudder right position and left position is not greater
than 0.2 in. (5 mm).
1) If the difference is greater than 0.2 in. (5 mm), do this task:Control Rod for Standby
Rudder Power Control Unit Adjustment, TASK 27-21-00-820-810-001.

(5) Do this task: Put the Rudder Hydraulic systems A, B, and Standby Back to the Condition
Before the Pressurization, TASK 27-21-00-840-801.

(1) Pressurize the rudder hydraulic systems A and B, do this task: Rudder Hydraulic System A, B,
or Standby Pressurization, TASK 27-21-00-800-801.

(2) Do the test of the rudder trim system:
(a) Make sure the rudder is in the neutral position.
1) If it is necessary, move the rudder pedals lightly to put the rudder to the neutral
position.
2) Make sure the rudder trim indicator is at 0.00 +/- 0.25 units of trim.
(b) Move the rudder trim knob to NOSE LEFT until the mark on the rudder trim knob is aligned
with the indicator mark on the lightplate under the trim knob.
1) Make sure the rudder did not move.
(c) Move the rudder trim knob to NOSE RIGHT until the mark on the rudder trim knob is aligned
with the indicator mark on the lightplate under the trim knob.
1) Make sure the rudder did not move.
(d) Move the rudder trim knob to NOSE RIGHT until the rudder trim indicator shows 10.0 +/-
0.25 units of trim.
1) Make sure the rudder moves 10.12 ±1.26 in. (257.0 ±32.1 mm) (10.74 +/- 1.35
degrees) to the right side.
