right elevator control pushrod [28] from the elevator bus crank [22].
(b) Loosen the checknut [29] on the right elevator pushrod [28].
(c) Adjust the elevator control pushrod [28] until the elevator is in the full down position with
PCUs bottomed.
NOTE: One half turn of the elevator control pushrod [28] is equal to 0.20 inch (5.1 mm) at
the elevator trailing edge.
(d) Install the bolt [23], washers [24] (under the nut), nut [25] (Figure 504).
1) Tighten the nut [25] by hand.

(3) Push down on the trailing edge of the left elevator, to bottom out of the elevator PCU’s in the
extended position.

(4) Make sure the left elevator is in the full down position with the inboard end of the elevator
trailing edge 10.84 +0.09/-0.32 inches (275.3 +2.3/-8.1 mm) from the elevator neutral index mark
(Figure 523).
(a) Remove the nut [27], washer [26], nut [25], washers [24], and bolt [23] to disconnect the left
elevator control pushrod [28] from the elevator bus crank [22].
(b) Loosen the checknut [29] on the left elevator control pushrod [28].

(c) Adjust the elevator control pushrod [28] until the elevator is in the full down position with
PCUs bottomed.
NOTE: One half turn of the elevator control pushrod [28] is equal to 0.20 inch (5.1 mm) at
the elevator trailing edge (Figure 505).
(d) Install the bolt [23], washers [24] (under the nut), nut [25] (Figure 504).
1) Tighten the nut [25] by hand.

(5) Make sure the final position of the left elevator is +/- 0.12 inch (+/- 3.0 millimeters) of the final
position of the right elevator.
(a) If it is necessary, re-adjust the right elevator to 10.84 +0.09/-0.32 inches (275.3 +2.3/-8.1
mm) from the index plate (Figure 523).

(6) Tighten the checknuts [29] on the left and right elevator pushrods [28] to 750 - 900 pound-inches
(84.8 - 101.7 newton-meters).
(a) Install the lockwire, G01912 on the checknuts [29].

(7) Tighten the nuts [25] to 500 - 600 pound-inches (56.5 - 67.8 newton-meters).

CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE NUT [25] AGAIN AFTER YOU TIGHTEN THE NUT [27],
YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(8) Install the washers [26] and nuts [27].
(a) Tighten the nuts [27] to 150 - 220 pound-inches (17.0 - 24.9 newton-meters).

(9) Release the elevator PCUs from their extended position.
