(c) Remove the tape (that has the mark on it) from the airplane.

(2) If there is not a tape with a mark that shows the correct position, then do these steps to install the
rudder index plate [1]:
(a) Put the rudder index plate [1] in its position (Figure 401).
(b) Install the screws [2] and washers [3] to install the rudder index plate [1].
(c) Make sure the rudder index plate [1] is set at 0.78 +0.02/-0.01 inch (19.8 +0.5/-0.2 mm)
(Figure 401).

STANDBY RUDDER POWER CONTROL UNIT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the standby rudder power control unit (PCU)
(2) An installation of the standby rudder PCU.

(1) Disconnect the hydraulic lines [12] from the power control unit [4].

(a) Put a 1 U.S.-gal (3.81 l) oil resistant container, STD-203 below the hydraulic connections.
(b) Disconnect the hydraulic lines [12] from the power control unit [4].
(c) Install the plugs and caps to the hydraulic lines and ports.
(d) Install a tag on the hydraulic lines [12] to make sure you install them correctly. Discard the
packing [3] and packing [11].

(2) Disconnect the electrical connector [1] from the power control unit [4].

(3) Disconnect the vernier control rod [9] from the power control unit [4]:
(a) Remove the nut [8], washer [7], washer [6], and bolt [5] to disconnect the control rod [9]
from the power control unit [4].

(4) Remove the power control unit [4]:
(a) Remove the nut [24], washers [23], bushing [22], washer [21], and bolt [20] to disconnect the
power control unit [4] from the rudder.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HOLD THE STANDBY RUDDER PCU DURING THE
REMOVAL OF THE STANDBY RUDDER PCU. THE STANDBY RUDDER PCU CAN
FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STANDBY RUDDER PCU.
(b) Remove the nut [19], washer [18], washer [17], bushing [16], bushing [15], washer [14], and
bolt [13] to that attach the power control unit [4] to the airplane structure.
(c) Remove the power control unit [4] from the airplane.
