G. Control Column Travel and Centering Test
SUBTASK 27-31-00-730-007
(1) Do the control column travel test (Figure 514):
(a) Attach the adapter, SPL-1674 and control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 to the
captain’s control column (Figure 514).
(b) Move the captain’s control column full aft until it touches the stop and hold it in that position.
1) Make sure the right elevator trailing edge moves to 13.16 - 14.87 inches (334.3 - 377.7
mm) up from the index mark (Figure 523).
a) Make sure the position of the captain’s control column is at a minimum of 14
degrees aft of the column neutral rig position (Figure 514).
(c) Move the captain’s control column full forward until it touches the stop and hold it in that
position.
1) Make sure the right elevator trailing edge moves to 9.90 - 11.08 inches (251.5 - 281.4
mm) down from the index mark (Figure 523).
2) Make sure the position of the captain’s control column is at a minimum of 12.8 degrees
forward of the column neutral rig position.
a) Release the control column.

(d) Make sure the total travel of the captain’s control column is a minimum of 28.4 degrees
(Figure 514).
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, SLATS, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE
QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(e) Pressurize elevator hydraulic systems A and B. To pressurize them, do this task: Elevator
Hydraulic System A and B - Pressurization, TASK 27-31-00-800-801.
(f) Move the captain’s control column lightly forward and aft to make sure it is in the neutral
