1) Make sure the position of the captain’s control column is in 6.1 - 7.7 degrees of the
vertical position (90 degrees).
(g) Remove the adapter, SPL-1674 and control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 from the
captain’s control column.
(h) Attach the adapter, SPL-1674 and control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 to the first
officer’s control column (Figure 514).
(i) Move the first officer’s control column lightly forward and aft to make sure it is in the neutral
position (Figure 514).
1) Make sure the position of the captain’s control column is in 6.1 - 7.7 degrees of the
vertical position.
(j) Remove the adapter, SPL-1674 and control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 from the
first officer’s control column.

(2) Do the elevator centering test:
(a) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch on the forward overhead panel, P5, to the OFF position.
(b) Make sure the FLT CONTROL A switch on the forward overhead panel, P5, is in the ON
position.
(c) Make sure the captain’s control column is at the neutral position.
1) Make sure the right elevator aligns with the index mark in +/- 0.06 inch (+/- 1.5 mm)
(Figure 505).
(d) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to the ON position.
1) Make sure the right elevator aligns with the index mark in +/- 0.06 inch (+/- 1.5 mm).
(e) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to the OFF position.
(f) Make sure the FLT CONTROL B switch is in the ON position.
1) Make sure the right elevator aligns with the index mark in +/- 0.06 inch (+/- 1.5 mm).
(g) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to the ON then to the OFF position.
1) Make sure there is less than 0.02 inch (0.5 mm) movement at the right elevator trailing
edge.
(h) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to the OFF then to the ON then to the OFF position.
1) Make sure there is less than 0.02 inch (0.5 mm) movement at the right elevator trailing
edge.
(i) Set the FLT CONTROL A and B switches to the ON position.

(j) Make sure the captain’s control column is at the neutral position.
1) Make sure the right elevator aligns with the index mark in +/- 0.06 inch (+/- 1.5 mm).
(k) Move the captain’s control column forward approximately 2 degrees and release.
1) Make sure the right elevator trailing edge aligns with the index mark in 0.00 +/- 0.12
inch (0.0 +/- 3.0 mm).
(l) Move the captain’s control column aft approximately 2 degrees and release.
1) Make sure the right elevator trailing edge aligns with the index mark in 0.00 +/- 0.12
inch (0.0 +/- 3.0 mm).
H. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

(1) Do this task: Put the Elevator Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before the
Pressurization, TASK 27-31-00-840-801.
