SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, SLATS, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE
QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Pressurize elevator hydraulic systems A and B. To pressurize them, do this task: Elevator
Hydraulic System A and B - Pressurization, TASK 27-31-00-800-801.

(6) Make sure the control column is in the neutral position.
G. Elevator Tab Linkage Test
SUBTASK 27-31-00-730-005
CAUTION: DO NOT PUT A LOAD OF MORE THAN 65 POUNDS (289 NEWTONS) ON THE
ELEVATORS AT ONE TIME. IF THE LOAD IS TOO HEAVY, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE ELEVATORS.
(1) Do the elevator tab linkage test:
(a) Cycle the control column forward and aft to center the system.
(b) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted.
1) If necessary, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(c) Move the left elevator tab up and down by hand to determine if the elevator tab is loose.
1) Make sure the looseness is not greater than 0.030 inch (0.76 mm) total movement at the
trailing edge of the left elevator tab.
(d) Move the right elevator tab up and down by hand to determine if the elevator tab is loose.
1) Make sure the looseness is not greater than 0.030 inch (0.76 mm) total movement at the
trailing edge of the right elevator tab.
(e) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Elevator Hydraulic Systems A and B,
TASK 27-31-00-800-802.
