SUBTASK 27-21-41-420-001
(1) Do these steps to install the cable [1]:
(a) Install the grommet on the cable [1].
(b) Push the cable [1] through the grommet hole.
NOTE: One end of the cable should reach the crank lever and the other end should reach
the rudder jackshaft [4].
(c) Install the cable clamps [6] and bolts [5] on the cable [1].

1) Make sure the cable radius is more than 5.0 inches (127 millimeters) for all the curves
in the cable.
NOTE: If the cable radius is less than 5.0 inches (127 millimeters), the cable will not
operate correctly.
SUBTASK 27-21-41-420-002
(2) Connect the cable [1] to the rudder pedal jackshaft [4]:
(a) Put the washer [2] and retaining nut [3] on the cable [1].
(b) Put the cable [1] through the rudder jackshaft [4].
(c) Apply a thin layer of grease, D00013 to the outside diameter of the cable [1] before it is
installed in the rudder jackshaft [4].
(d) Do these steps:
1) Install the alignment tool equipment (B27064-5), SPL-1689 through the hole in the
bottom of the rudder jackshaft [4] to hold the jackshaft universal joint in its position.
2) Turn the cable [1] end until it engages the jackshaft pin.
3) Use the crowfoot wrench to hold the retaining nut [3].
4) Use the flare nut wrench to hold the sleeve of the cable [1].
(e) Tighten the retaining nut [3].
1) Tighten the retaining nut [3] to 90-400 pound-inches (10.2-45.2 newton-meters) before it
touches the jackshaft support.
2) Turn the retaining nut [3] 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn more when it touches the jackshaft support.

(3) Do these steps to connect the cable [1] to the crank lever [10]:
(a) Put the cable retaining nut [13] on one end of the cable [1].
