(13) Adjust the seals at the trailing edge of the vertical fin and tighten them (Figure 402) (View J and

(14) Adjust the balance weight seals on the vertical fin and tighten the seal retainers (Figure 402)

(15) Adjust the clearance for the lower (rudder to body) seal (Figure 402) (View K, D-D, and E-E):
(a) Move the rudder to its neutral position.
(b) Make sure the gap is 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) -- -0.04 in. (-1.02 mm).
(c) If it is necessary, do these steps to adjust the seal:
1) Loosen the bolts [48] and bolts [49] from the seal.
2) Adjust the seal until the gap is 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) -- -0.04 in. (-1.02 mm).
3) Tighten the bolts [48] and bolts [49].
(d) Make sure the seal does not cause a blockage at the left and right rudder drain holes.

(1) Put a tape on the airplane adjacent to the rudder index plate.
(a) Accurately make a mark of the position of the rudder index plate on the tape.
