PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
6) Push the YES button when the RUDDER CLEARED? shows on the display.
7) Push the YES button when the FLT CTRL A STBY? shows on the display.
8) Push the YES button when the FLT CTRL B STBY? shows on the display.
9) Push the YES button when YAW DMPR ENGAGED? shows on the display.
10) Push the YES button when the ZERO COMMAND? shows on the display.
NOTE: A yaw damper command value and LVDT position will show for 10 seconds
each, then the END ZERO COMMAND? will show on the display. You can push
the NO button to show these values again.
(h) Move the captain’s left rudder pedal approximately 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) forward and release.
1) Make sure the rudder goes back to the neutral position.
(i) Move the captain’s right rudder pedal approximately 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) forward and release.
1) Make sure the rudder goes back to the neutral position.
(j) Push and release the ON/OFF button on the SMYD No. 2.

(5) Set the YAW DAMPER switch on the P5-3 overhead panel to the OFF position.

10. Rudder Pedal Forces Test
(Figure 504)
A. General
(1) Use this test to make sure the rudder pedals operate with the correct forces.
NOTE: You must measure the forces with the pedal moving away from the neutral position. If
the pedal moves more than the specified distances, you must repeat the test and start
with the pedal at neutral position.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDER,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, SLATS, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE
QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Pressurize the rudder hydraulic systems A and B. To pressurize them, do this task: Rudder
Hydraulic System A, B, or Standby Pressurization, TASK 27-21-00-800-801.

(2) Do the test of the rudder pedal forces test:
(a) Set the captain’s and first officer’s rudder pedal adjustment cranks to the middle position.
(Figure 501)
(b) Make sure the rudder pedals are in the neutral position.
(c) Install adapter, SPL-1681 on the captain’s left rudder pedal.

1) Push on the adapter, SPL-1681 until the rudder starts to move.
2) Multiply the compression gage value on the adapter, SPL-1681 by a multiplication
factor given in (Table 503):
NOTE: The angle from the horizontal value is also shown on the adapter, SPL-1681.
