___________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. There are three tasks in this section:
(1)
Make a check of the fire extinguisher bottle for correct pressure.
(2)
Weigh the fire extinguisher bottle.
(3)
Make a check of the discharge cartridge.
B. You will use the pressure check and the weight check to find if the fire extinguisher bottle is serviceable.

S 786-001
(1) Measure the pressure in the fire extinguisher bottle (referred to as the fire bottle).
(a)
Permit the bottle to get ambient temperature and use ambient temperature to find the pressure.
(b)
Alternative method: Measure the temperature of the fire bottle with the infrared thermometer.
(c)
Find the higher pressure limit and the lower pressure limit from the fire bottle temperature that was measured and Fig. 601.
(d)
Read the pressure gage on the fire bottle.
(e)
Compare the pressure in the fire bottle (read from the gauge) with the higher and lower pressure limits.
(f)
Make sure the pressure in the fire bottle is more than the lower limit.
(g)
Make sure the pressure in the fire bottle is less than the higher limit. 1) If the pressure in the fire bottle is more than the higher
limit, or less than the lower limit, replace the fire bottle with a serviceable fire bottle.
