(4) If the bottle does not have a squib installed, install the discharge squib in fire extinguisher discharge plug. Tighten the squib to 96 |12 pound-inches and attach a lockwire.
NOTE:____The squib must be examined for damage. Make a check of the
soft seal opposite the electrical connector, which protects the explosive charge. Replace the squib if it is damaged or has a hole.

CAUTION: IF A SHUNT PLUG IS INSTALLED, PULL THE SHUNT PLUG STRAIGHT OFF
_______ THE FIRE BOTTLE SQUIB. IF YOU TWIST OR WIGGLE THE SHUNT PLUG, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SQUIB PINS.

If a protective cover is installed on the squib, remove the protective cover.

If a shunt plug is installed, pull the shunt plug straight off the squib and discard the shunt plug.
NOTE: Shunt plugs should not be used to cover the fire bottle

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THERE IS NO VOLTAGE AT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. IF THERE IS A VOLTAGE AT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR, THE SQUIB CAN RELEASE ITS CONTENTS SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(7) Make sure there is no voltage between pins 1 and 2 of the electrical connector.
NOTE: If you use a voltmeter, connect a 10 Kohm resistor across

the meter. You should read less than 1 volt.

APU FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is a check of the bottle pressure.
B. The second task is a check of the service life of the squib cartridge.
TASK 26-22-11-756-001
2. Inspection/Check - Fire Extinguisher Bottle -------------------------------------------
A. Procedure
S 756-002
(1) Make a Check of the Bottle Pressure.
(a) Remove and weigh the bottle to find its condition. The total weight marked on the nameplate includes: the discharge outlet, the squib with protective cap, the fill fitting, and the extinguishing agent. The maximum weight of a serviceable fire extinguisher bottle with the squib installed is identified on the nameplate. You must replace the bottle if the bottle weight is 0.10 pounds less than the total weight identified on the nameplate.
