1. Engine and APU Fire Control Module Functional Test__________________________________________________
A. General
CAUTION:_______DO NOT START AN ENGINE SHUTDOWN WITH THE FIRE SWITCH. AN ENGINE SHUTDOWN BY MEANS OF THE FIRE SWITCH IS NOT A RECOMMENDED TEST PROCEDURE AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
The engine and APU fire control module P8-1 contains components to monitor the fire and overheat detection systems and to control and test the fire extinguishing system. This procedure supplies a functional check of the engine and APU fire control module (P8-1) on the control stand.

The tests that follow are contained in the functional test:
(a)
Engine and APU Fire Control Module Test
(b)
Fire Switch Handle Test
(c)
Pressure Switch Circuits
(d)
Engine and APU Squib Circuits
(e)
Bottle squib connections
(3)
The front of the module contains these components for extinguishing and detection:
(a)
fire switch handles with fire warning lights for each engine and the APU,
(b)
discharge lights for each engine and APU,
(c)
overheat lights for each engine,
(d)
engine detector fault light,
(e)
fire/overheat detector selector switch for each engine,
(f)
an APU detector inoperative light,
(g)
a bell cutout switch,
(h)
test switches,
(i)
three fire extinguisher test lights.
(4)
The control circuits for the master caution lights and the test circuits for the fire extinguisher bottle are on cards in the module.
