APU FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This subject has 3 tasks. The first task is an operational test of the fire extinguishing system on the APU.
B. The second task is a system test. The test makes a check of the switch circuits between the P8 panel, the P28 panel and the squib connector.
C. The third task is a leakage test of the tubing used in the fire extinguisher system on the APU.

Supply electrical power. (AMM 24-22-00/201)

Open the APU access door and the 3701 access door.

Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:
(a)
EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES APU on the P6-2 panel
(b)
All (3) IND LIGHTS on the P6-3 panel
(c)
SEC 5 on the P6-3 panel.

(4) Do a Test of the APU Squib Circuit.
(a)
Make sure all the lights on the P8-1 panel are OFF.
(b)
Move the EXT TEST switch on the P8-1 panel to position 1 and hold it.
(c)
Make sure the APU light (green) on the P8-1 panel goes on.

Release the EXT TEST switch.

Make sure all the lights on the P8-1 panel go off.

Move the EXT TEST switch to position 2 and hold it.
(b)
Make sure the APU light (green) on the P8-1 panel goes on.

Release the EXT TEST switch.

Make sure all the lights on the P8-1 panel go off.

Do a Test of the APU Pressure Switch Circuit
(a)
Disconnect the D1176 connector found behind the 3701 access door.
(b)
Install a jumper across pins 1 and 2 of the D1176 connector.
(c)
Make sure the APU BOTTLE DISCHARGED light (amber) on the P8-1 panel comes on.
(d)
Remove the jumper from pins 1 and 2 of the D1176 connector.
(e)
Connect the D1176 connector to the bottle pressure switch on the APU.
D. Put the airplane to its usual condition.
