C. Prepare for the Installation

(1) Make sure that these circuit breakers are open:
(a) Circuit Breaker Panel, P6 or P18 1) FWD CARGO SMOKE DETECTION A 2) FWD CARGO SMOKE DETECTION B 3) AFT CARGO SMOKE DETECTION A 4) AFT CARGO SMOKE DETECTION B

(2) Open the applicable (forward or aft) cargo compartment door.
D. Install the CEU

(1)
Connect the electrical connectors to the CEU (1).

(2)
Put the CEU (1) in its position in the ceiling bracket.

(3)
Install the screws (2) to hold the CEU in its position.
E. Do the Installation Test

Supply Electrical Power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

(3) Do a test of the CEU
(a)
Push and hold the LAMP TEST switch on the CEU.
1) Make sure all the smoke detector indicators (loop A and B), on the CEU, come on.
(b)
Release the LAMP TEST switch.
(c)
Push and hold the PRESS TO TEST switch on the CEU.
1) Make sure all the smoke detector indicators (loop A and B), on the CEU, come on.
(d)
Release the PRESS TO TEST switch.

Put the cover (3) over the CEU (1).

(5)
Install the screws (4) to hold the cover in its position.
F. Put the Airplane Back to its Usual Condition

Close the applicable (forward or aft) cargo compartment door.

If it is not necessary, remove the Electrical Power

WHEEL WELL OVERHEAT DETECTION SYSTEM -

General
_______
A. The wheel well overheat detection system provides overheat detection in the main wheel well area. The detection system is an electrical, heat sensing system that responds to overheat by activating fire warning lights and an alarm bell.
B. The wheel well overheat detection system consists of the engine and APU fire control module P8-1, compartment overheat accessory unit M237, alarm bell, master fire warning lights, and a sensing element. The sensing element is connected to the compartment overheat accessory unit, which monitors the resistance of the sensing element. When a temperature rise causes the element resistance to drop to the value corresponding to the alarm temperature, the compartment overheat accessory unit will provide a signal to the wheel well warning light and alarm bell and a ground to the master fire warning lights.
