(1) Check the fire detection elements.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE DETECTION ELEMENTS ARE OF THE SAME TYPE AS THE
_______ DETECTION SYSTEM IN THE AIRPLANE. THE APU FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM WILL NOT OPERATE IF AN INCORRECT FIRE DETECTOR IS INSTALLED.
(2) Make sure, by a visual check, that the fire detection elements in the area of the APU are the same type as the detection system in the airplane.
NOTE: Identification is found at one end of each detector

AIRPLANES WITH ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ON THE APU ENGINE FIRE DETECTOR ELEMENT; Connect the C26002-25 cable assembly as follows:
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector, D984 (APU engine fire detector element).

Connect the electrical connector (red) on the cable assembly to the APU engine fire detector element.
(c)
Connect the alligator clip (black) on the cable assembly to an airplane ground source.
(d)
Connect the red banana plug on the cable assembly to the HI (red) jack of the APU loop on the test box.
(e)
Connect the black banana plug on the cable assembly to the GND (black) jack of the APU loop on the test box.

(5) AIRPLANES WITH TERMINAL LUGS ON THE APU ENGINE FIRE DETECTOR ELEMENT; Connect the C26002-4 cable assembly as follows:
NOTE: Terminal lugs do not need to be disconnected to do

the system test.
(a)
Connect one alligator clip (red) on the cable assembly to the center conductor of the APU engine fire detector element.
(b)
Connect the other alligator clip (black) to an airplane ground source.
(c)
Connect the red banana plug on the cable assembly to the HI (red) jack of the APU loop on the test box.
(d)
Connect the black banana plug on the cable assembly to the GND (black) jack of the APU loop on the test box.

(6) Close these circuit breakers on the P6 panel:

(b)
FIRE PROTECTION DETECTION, ENG NO. 2

(7) Turn the switch for the APU loop, on the test box, to the ENABLE and then to the FIRE position.
(a) Make sure that these indications occur:
1) The two FIRE WARN lights on the P7 panel come on.
