(3) The APU bottle discharge light is connected to pressure switch. When the bottle pressure drops, the pressure switch closes, and the APU bottle discharge light illuminates.
4. APU Ground Control Panel (Fig. 1)________________________
A. The APU ground control panel is in the right wheel well. Components of the APU ground control panel are the APU fire light, fire switch, and bottle discharge switch. When a fire is detected in the APU compartment, the APU fire light comes on and a warning horn sounds. Pulling the fire switch shuts down the APU and arms the bottle discharge switch. Pressing the bottle discharge switch discharges the APU fire bottle.
5. Operation (Fig. 1)_________
A. When a fire is detected in the APU compartment, the APU fire switch handle unlocks, the APU fire switch handle light comes on, and the fire warning bell sounds. The red APU fire light on the APU ground control panel also comes on.
B. When the APU fire switch handle is pulled out, the APU automatically shuts down and the extinguishing bottle is armed; the APU generator field relay and generator circuit breaker are tripped; the APU fuel shut-off valve closes; the APU inlet door closes; and the bleed air valve closes.
C. When the APU fire switch handle is rotated in either direction (for at least one second), the squib is fired, rupturing the sealing diaphragm and releasing the extinguishing agent. The extinguishing agent flows from the bottle to the APU shroud. The pressure of extinguishing agent in the discharge line causes the yellow disc in the dischage indicator to be knocked out, showing the system has been actuated. When the bottle pressure approaches approximately 250 psi, the APU bottle discharge light illuminates, indicating the APU bottle is discharged and inactive.
D. APU Extinguishing System Test
(1) Squib Test
(a) Pressing the EXT TEST switch sends a signal to the squib. If the squib and circuit continuity are good, the APU extinguisher test light on the panel will come on.

APU FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM - TROUBLESHOOTING
1. General
A. Whenever the engine and APU fire control panel (P8-1) is removed and replaced, test the APU fire extinguishing system (Ref 26-21-51/501).
