WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE SQUIB BEFORE YOU DO THE PROCEDURES FOR
_______ DEVICES THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE THE FIRE BOTTLE TO RELEASE ITS CONTENTS SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Before you touch the squib, do the procedure for devices that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (AMM 20-40-12/201).

Disconnect these connectors in the main wheel well:
(a)
D582-L (forward) bottle, Squib 1
(b)
D1322-L (forward) bottle, Squib 2
(c)
D584-R (aft) bottle, Squib 1
(d)
D1324-R (aft) bottle, Squib 2

WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS TO THE BOTTLE SQUIBS
_______ DURING THE TEST IF THERE IS VOLTAGE AT THE CONNECTOR PINS. INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR IF THE SQUIB IS ACCIDENTALLY FIRED AND THE BOTTLE RELEASES ITS CONTENTS.

Install protective covers on the fire bottle squibs.

Set the toggles switch on the squib test box to ON.

Measure the resistance (RL) of the test box with a multimeter connected to the voltmeter jacks.
(a) Write the value of RL.
F. Do a test of the Bottle Discharge Circuit for Engine 1.

(1) Attach the applicable adapter cable to the connector of the squib test box.
NOTE: See the placard on the tester to determine the correct
____
adapter.
NOTE:____There are two squib circuits for each squib. Salect the squib 1A adapter for pins 3 and 4, and the squib 1B adapter for pins 6 and 7.

(2) Set the toggle switch on the squib test box to OFF.

(3) Connect connector D582 for the left bottle squib 1 to the adapter
cable for the test box.

(4) Connect the multimeter (in DC volts position) to the squib test box.
Connect a 10 kohm resistor across the multimeter.

(5) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close the EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES LEFT
AND EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE LEFT circuit breakers on the P6-2 panel.

(6) Pull out the fire handle for engine 1 which is on the Engine and APU
Fire Control Panel, to the emergency fire position.
NOTE:____ To pull fire handle into the emergency fire position, it is
necessary to use the manual unlock pushbutton behind the fire
handle. When you turn the fire handle you must hold the
handle against the stops while you get your readings.

Turn and hold the fire handle for engine 1 fully counterclockwise.

Make sure the BOTTLE DISCHARGE light on the test box is on.
(a) Write the voltage shown on the multimeter as (V1).

(9) Set the toggle switch on the test box to ON.
(a) Write the voltage shown on the multimeter as (V2).

(10) Release the handle.
(a)
Make sure the handle moves toward center 10 degrees.
(b)
Make sure the multimeter shows 0 |2 volts.

Put the toggle switch on the squib test box to OFF.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES LEFT
(b)
EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE LEFT

(13) Disconnect electrical connector D582 from the adapter cable of the test box.
