Install the bolts (2) and washers (3) to hold the bottle in its position.

If the discharge ports are not aligned with the discharge tubes, then do this step:
(a)
Remove the lockwire from the gland nuts.
(b)
Loosen the discharge head gland nuts.

(c) Adjust the discharge heads to give the best possible access to the tube connections.
(5) S 034-028Remove the caps from the discharge port and the discharge tube.
(6) S 434-029Connect the FWD (yellow) and AFT (blue) discharge tubes to the discharge ports. (a) Apply a layer of compound, BMS 3-27 to the threads where the tube attaches to the discharge port. (b) Connect the discharge tubes to the discharge ports. (c) Refer to the outlet identification above each discharge outlet to make sure the tubes are connected to the correct ports. (d) Remove all unwanted compound, BMS 3-27.
(7) S 434-030If the discharge head was adjusted, do these steps: (a) Tighten the gland nuts to 540-660 pound-inches (62-74 NM). (b) Attach a lockwire (5) from one gland nut to the other gland nut.
(8) S 434-031Tighten the discharge tubes to 280 pound-inches (31.5 NM) for the FWD (1/2 inch) connector and 360 pound-inches (40.5 NM) for the AFT (5/8 inch) connector.
(9) S 434-032Install the nuts (4) to connect the ground straps to the ground lugs.

(10) Use an ohmmeter to do a check of the resistance between the fire extinguishing bottle and the mounting pan.
(a)
Make sure the resistance is less than 0.0025 ohms.
(b)
If the resistance is greater than 0.0025 ohms, then clean the faying surfaces with solvent TT-N-95.
(c)
Do the resistance check again.

(11) If the discharge cartridge (squib) is not installed on the fire extinguisher bottle, then do the steps that follow:
(a)
Install the squib in the discharge head.
(b)
Tighten the squib to 90-100 pound-inches (10-11 Nm).

(12) Connect the electrical connector to the bottle pressure switch.
(a)
Connect the electrical connector to the bottle pressure switch, D12792.
(b)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close this circuit breaker on the P6 or P18 panel: 1) LWR CARGO FIRE EXT 1
(c)
Push and hold the pressure switch manual-override button on the fire extinguishing bottle.
(d)
Make sure the yellow DISCH light on the cargo fire control panel, P8, comes on.
(e)
Release the pressure switch manual-override button on the fire extinguishing bottle.
(f)
Make sure the DISCH light on the cargo fire control panel, P8, goes off.

(13) Connect and do a test of the FWD squib to the fire extinguishing bottle.
(a)
Open this circuit breaker on the P6 or P18 panel and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) LWR CARGO FIRE EXT 1
