Remove the two screws securing the discharge nozzle and spacer to the pan cover assembly.
(b)
Loosen the nut and remove the discharge nozzle and spacer.

B. Prepare for the Installation

(1) Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) Circuit breaker panel P6 or P18
1) LWR CARGO FIRE EXT BTL 1

To access the forward nozzles, open the forward cargo door.

To access the aft nozzles, open the forward cargo door.
C. Install the Nozzles.
S 424-016
(1) Install the discharge nozzles on the discharge tubes.
(a) Install the discharge nozzle and spacer on the discharge tube and hand tighten.
NOTE: Make sure the holes in the discharge nozzle and spacer
____ line up with those in the pan cover assembly.
(b)
Tighten the nut 45-55 foot-pounds (61-75 Nm), and install lockwire.
(c)
Secure the discharge nozzle with the screws.
(d)
Install the cargo ceiling.
D. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

(1)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker:
(a) Circuit Breaker Panel, P6 or P18
1) LWR CARGO FIRE EXT BTL 1
(2)
Close the cargo doors.

LAVATORY FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General_______
A. The lavatory fire extinguishing system provides fire extinguishing for the lavatory waste compartment by flooding the compartment with inert gas.
B. The fire extinguishing agent is non-corrosive. There are no special inspection or cleaning procedures required if the agent is discharged when there is no fire in the lavatory.
C. The system is a heat-activated extinguisher bottle and a temperature indicator.
2. Fire Extinguisher Bottle (Fig. 1)________________________
A. The bottle is a steel container, about 2.5 inches in diameter with volume of approximately 10 cubic inches, with discharge tubes, fusible tips, and mounting bracket. The container is filled with freon.
