A priority rule is established to display these messages since
they are located at the same place on the ND screen, as follows:
TERR AHEAD in red (most priority)
TERR AHEAD in amber
TERR in cyan (less priority)
The message TERR RNG is displayed in red when there is an error
in the range or when an FCU fault is detected by the EGPWS.
When the EGPWS is in test mode, a special pattern is displayed
and if there is no failure, the amber message TERR TST is
displayed.

(b) EGPWS messages on the ND TERR message The message "TERR" or "TERR AHEAD" is displayed on the ND in lieue of the tilt angle value related to the weather radar (right lower corner) as soon as a terrain frame is detected as valid by the DMC in the ROSE-NAV mode, ROSE-VOR, ROSE-ILS, or ARC mode. Both tilt angle value and messages TERR or TERR AHEAD or TERRAIN or OBST AHEAD or OBST cannot overlay because the terrain frames and the WXR frames cannot be received at the same time by the DMC. The message "TERR AHEAD" or TERRAIN or OBST AHEAD or OBST are displayed in red colour when some warning criteria is met. It is flashing for 9 seconds, then remains steady and red until the warning condition disappears. The message "TERR AHEAD" or TERRAIN or OBST AHEAD or OBST are displayed in amber colour when caution criteria are met. It is flashing for 9 seconds, then remains steady and amber until the the caution condition disappears. The message "TERR" is displayed in cyan colour otherwise. A priority rule is established to display these messages since they are located at the same place on the ND screen, as follows: red TERR AHEAD (most priority) red TERRAIN red OBST AHEAD red OBST amber TERR AHEAD amber TERRAIN amber OBST AHEAD amber OBST (less priority)

(1)
ND PLAN mod is selected by the flight crew.
(2)
Range discrepancy The DMC compares the range value from the FCU with the range sent back by the WXR T/R unit or the EGPWS T/R unit on its data bus. If there is a discrepancy, the WXR or the EGPWS is considered as faulty and the WXR echoes or the terrain picture are no longer displayed. However this comparison is inhibited for 8s, after a new range selection, with this indication RANGE CHANGE displayed on the ND.
(3)
WXR fault (refer to the label 055 definition) transmitter/receiver fault, antenna fault, control fault.
(4)
No refresh. The cause of no refresh can be no label 055 or label 066 during 6s, wrong data accept during 12s, wrong control accept during 6s. Before erasing the WXR or terrain picture, the DMC operates with the previous data during 6 or 12s depending on the above criteria.
(5)
Switching between EGPWS and WXR
Ref to the SDAC label 007.01/28
The cause of the switching can be the change:
-from the label 055 to 066
- or from the label 066 to 055
NOTE : Upon such a switching the monitoring of the frame validity is
____ re-initialized (the image is erased).

The location of the windshear event is indicated by an icon superimposed on the WXR image displayed on the ND. There are three alert levels depending of event seriousness and distance from aircraft. The two most significant levels are indicated by dedicated messages on the ND. These messages are displayed in red or amber color (depending of the alert level) in the middle of the ND screen:
-
W/S : CHANGE MODE is displayed when the PLAN mode is selected
-
W/S : SET RNG 10NM is displayed when the selected range is greater than 10NM
-PRED W/S (Amber color) is displayed when a fault occurs without affecting the radar modes or detection function and when the A/C is on ground or when the flap/slat control lever is in a position different from 0 deg.
