The scale of the map is that chosen by means of the range selector (the range value selected corresponding to the diameter of the outer circle). No navigation station characteristics (in the ND bottom corners) and associated bearing pointers are available in this mode. The A/C position on the map is represented by a track-orientated yellow A/C model (item b)

first flashing during 9s, then remaining steady when the DMC has detected an anomaly concerning the heading parameter.
When difference between the 2 sides is detected by external comparison (FWC), an amber CHECK HDG flag is displayed at the top of the CAPT and F/O ND dials.

The heading remains still displayed. The crew has to give a decision, using the ADIRU 3, heading source or the standby compass. HDG and CHECK HDG flags are not displayed in the PLAN mode.
B. Heading or Track Presentation
(1) Actual heading The A/C actual magnetic heading is readable around a graduated rotating scale (only for a 90. sector ahead of the A/C in ARC mode), with respect to a fixed yellow reference line at the top of the scale.
