A cyan dagger shaped symbol (item ae) indicates the selected VOR course on the heading dial. The VOR course is selected either automatically when the A/C follows a specified VOR course on a leg of the flight plan, or manually through the MCDU in the RADIO NAV page, or through the RMP in back-up mode. The central part (in cyan color) of the course symbol provides the lateral VOR deviation (item x) on a scale which is perpendicular to the course symbol. This scale (item y) has 2 dots on each side. The outer dots represent a plus or minus 10. deviation. Furthermore an arrow on the deviation bar gives the TO/FROM indication (item z).
Item x: Lateral deviation bar This lateral deviation is given by the ILS label 173, the VOR label 100 and label 222, the ADIRU label 320 Item y: Deviation scale The deviation scale is given by the ILS label 105, the VOR label 100 and the ADIRU label 320 Item ae: Selected course The selected course is given by the ILS label 105, the VOR label 100, the ADIRU label 320
 **ON A/C 001-049, 051-099, 101-105, 151-199, 201-299, 301-302,
If the VOR course parameter or the magnetic heading is not valid, the course pointer is constantly displayed in the vertical position (scale in horizontal position), in red color.
The VOR lateral deviation is then equal to:
 -
VOR bearing minus course if the magnetic heading is not valid

 -
VOR bearing minus magnetic heading if the VOR course is not valid.

R **ON A/C 106-149, 303-399, 401-499,
If the VOR course parameter or the magnetic heading is not valid, the course pointer is constantly displayed in the vertical position (scale in horizontal position), in red color. It is not displayed in case of VOR course in NCD. The VOR lateral deviation scale is displayed horizontally if the VOR course parameter is invalid or NCD, or the heading is invalid.
The VOR lateral deviation is then equal to:
-VOR bearing minus VOR course if the VOR course parameter is valid

-VOR bearing minus magnetic heading if the VOR course or the heading is not valid.
 **ON A/C ALL
When the VOR bearing parameter SSM changes from NO to NCD, the associated deviation index is still displayed during 3 s, in its last valid position, in order to avoid the beating of the index at the limits of reception, and it disappears afterwards. The selected VOR station (item aa) (1 for CAPT side and 2 for F/O side), frequency (item ab) selected course (item ac) and identification (item ad) M or R, when available are provided in the right upper corner of the ND. The displayed indications are in white color.

Item ab: VOR frequency The VOR frequency is given by the VOR label 034 The ADF frequency is given by the ADF label 032
In case of failure, they are displayed in red color, and in addition the selected VOR course is replaced by a "xxx" symbol. In case of NCD the selected VOR course is then replaced by a "---" symbol in cyan color.

If an ILS station frequency and course have been selected:
 -
a dagger-shaped pointer (item ae) in magenta color points to the selected ILS course. Its central part is the lateral deviation bar (item af) which can move on a scale (item ag) which is perpendicular to the pointer, and has 2 dots on each side. The position of the bar on the scale gives the localizer deviation. The extreme dots correspond to plus or minus 0.155 ddm.

 -
a magenta lozenge (item ah) gives the glide slope deviation on a vertical scale (item ai) at the right of the heading dial, provided that the A/C is within the conditions of reception of the ILS glide slope signal.
