4 kinds of messages can appear on the ND.
**ON A/C ALL
(1) Approach mode The type of approach is selected through the MCDU. The related messages are:
R **ON A/C 001-049, 051-099, 101-149, 151-199, 201-299, 401-499,
Post SB 34-1147 For A/C 001-004,051-060,
GPS APP, ILS APP, VOR APP, NDB APP, RNAV APP. (PROV FOR MLS/GLS: MLS APP) These messages are displayed in green color in the ND mid upper area. The GPS APP message has priority over the other possible symbols displayed at the same place.
**ON A/C 001-004, 051-060,
ILS APP, VOR APP, NDB APP, RNAV APP. These messages are displayed in green color in the ND mid upper area.
**ON A/C ALL
(2) Messages associated with change of mode/range
Two categories of messages can appear:
-messages signaling to the pilot a temporary lack of map data because of an action leading to a gap in the transmission of the map background data (e.g.: ND mode change or range selection change).
The following messages are displayed in green color in the center of the screen MODE CHANGE RANGE CHANGE.

-messages signaling to the pilot the presence of TA or RA intruders when the ND mode or range is inadequate to display them. The following messages are displayed in the center of the screen: TCAS : CHANGE RANGE TCAS : CHANGE MODE These messages are amber if the most dangerous intruder is a TA. They are red if the most dangerous intruder is a RA.

This red message appears on the center of the screen in ROSE-NAV, ARC or PLAN mode if the DMC does not work with the same range or mode as the FMGC does, or if the A/C position delivered by the FMGC is no longer valid (except in PLAN mode), or if the DMC does not acquire correctly the FMGC-EFIS data e.g., in case of complete loss of the FMGCs.
NOTE : The TCAS messages displayed in the center of screen have
____ priority on the messages dedicated to the map data.

The lowwer part of the ND is used to display the following TCAS
messages (in decreasing priority order) :
-TCAS in red (TCAS failure or garbled TCAS frame)
-TA ONLY in white (the TCAS computer operates in TA ONLY mode)
-messages concerning the 2 most dangerous intruders without bearing. The color of the text corresponds to the type of intruder : amber for TA, red for RA.
