Above 73. North and 60. South, the TRUE indication comes on white above and at the centre of the heading scale. Depending on the PP-POLARNAV pin program, this is performed either manually by the crew (NORTH REF P/BSW on the TRUE position) or automatically by the ADIRUs when the aircraft reaches the polar zone. In such a case, a cyan TRUE message appears in a cyan box above the heading reference line (the LOC scale being displayed or not). In automatic or manual true heading configuration, at slats extension, the TRUE message and its box flashe for 10s then remain steady.

items (a) A green diamond shaped symbol represents the aircraft actual track. A cyan triangular symbol indicates the selected heading or track provided that a heading or track value is displayed in the FCU dedicated counter. This symbol is replaced by digits on the right hand or the left hand of the heading scale when the selected value is outside the displayed portion of the heading.

item (b) In ILS approach, when the ILS pushbutton switch is pressed (pushbutton switch light on), the ILS course or QFU is displayed on the heading scale by means of a magenta dagger shaped symbol. The QFU symbol is replaced by digits on the right hand or the left hand of the heading scale when the ILS course value is outside the displayed range of the heading.
