There are different types of basic navaids: current waypoints
(item am), TO waypoint (item an), navigation stations (item bi),
airports (item ap), holding patterns and procedure turns.
A waypoint can be any navigational aid or another point selected
 by the pilot.
The various kinds of waypoints are different in shape and in
 color.
Waypoints can be constrained. In this case they are indicated by
a circle surrounding the waypoint symbol. This circle is:

 -
in white color if the constraint is not concerning the flight plan

 -
in magenta if the constraint is of concern for the flight plan and can be respected

 -
in amber color if the constraint is of concern for the flight

plan but cannot be respected. The navaids which are automatically tuned or those which are manually selected for display, are indicated on the map in cyan color. Level points (which are points of the flight plan where a selected flight level is be reached), speed change points, constrained waypoints are indicated on the flight plan by means of specific symbols: respectively arrow, small circle, large circle surrounding the way point. These symbols are in magenta color when associated to a constraint.

They are the points of the map, linked by segments, which belong to active flight plan. They are displayed in a green diamond-shaped symbol. All the waypoints which are stored in the FMGC data base and which are not already presented with the flight plan, are displayed.

It is normally the next one to be overflown. It is displayed in white; the waypoint identification (max 6 letters) is written next to the corresponding waypoint symbol, with possibly the associated constraints below if the CSTR option is selected (this concerns only the TO and the next waypoints of the flight plan). The usefull data associated to the TO waypoint are displayed in the right upper corner. They are: waypoint identification (item be), bearing to go (item bf), distance to go (item bg), and estimated GMT at arrival at this waypoint (item bh).
All these data are displayed in green color and are cleared in case of failure.
