 item (a). By pulling the knob, the pilot selects the standard baro setting i.e 1013 hpa. A yellow box surrounding a STD message is displayed below the scale item (b). By pressing the baro reference selector knob the pilot selects baro setting whose value can be adjusted by turning the knob. This pressure is a QNH reference. If the pilot wants a QFE reference, he must press the knob again. At each pushing action, the indication below the scale alternates between QFE and QNH. The QFE indication is displayed in a white box for better distinction from QNH. Regarding this baro corrected reference, the unit can be Hpa (ex millibars) or inches of mercury (In.Hg) item (c). When the A/C flies above the transition altitude and the altitude scale still displays a baro corrected altitude (QNH or QFE), the baro setting value and the QFE or QNH message displayed below the scale flash to signal the pilot to change to STD baro setting. Reciprocally, if the A/C flies below the transition level with a display of the standard altitude scale the STD message below the scale flashes as described previously signalling the pilot to change the baro setting to the corrected one either QNH or QFE. It has to be notified that when the pilot changes the baro setting reference from the STD reference to the corrected one the pressure reference value is the standard value i.e 1013 Hpa. He has to adjust the right value through the FCU.

 item (a) In descent, a filled magenta circle indicates the linear vertical deviation with respect to the FMGC computed theoretical vertical flight path. It is presented from the top of descent down to the final intercept altitude. The value displayed is transmitted by the FMGC on the label 125.

 item (b) When below 2500 ft. a digital radio height indication is displayed on the attitude scale. In the same way on the altitude tape when the altitude is less than 570 ft, an analog indication is displayed on the altitude scale by means of a red ribbon located along the right hand side of the tape. The distance between the top of the ribbon and the center of the altitude window represents the A/C actual radio altitude. In case of

 

 failure of the radio altimeter a dedicated flag is presented in the lower sector of the altitude window. The value displayed for the radio altitude is transmitted by the radioaltimeter on the label 164.
