 NOTE : O: Cases where an FMGCX-A bus is lost, but the APX cannot
____ be engaged (/). *: Cases where an FMGCX-A bus is lost, but the APX can still be engaged. The symbol (1) means: The FMGC1 'A' bus is valid, and is used by the DMC for the FD/FPD orders and the FMA. However, since the AP2 is engaged, there is most likely a wiring problem about the lost of the FMGC2 'A' bus. Therefore, the FMA, which always indicate the mode of operation of the working AP, is blanked. The symbol (2) means: The FMGC 1-A bus is valid, and is used by the DMC for the FD/FPD orders and the FMA. However, since the AP1 is engaged, there is most likely a wiring problem about the lost of the FMGC1 'A' bus. Therefore, the FMA, which always indicate the mode of operation of the working AP, is blanked.
 B. ADIRU
 IR and ADR bus selections are completely independent.

 (1) ADIRU : IR
R  (Ref. Fig. A003) In normal configuration, the parameters displayed on the PFDs come from the ADIRU1 for the CAPT PFD and from the ADIRU2 for the F/O PFD. When a failure is detected on either CAPT PFD or F/O PFD, the switching on the ADIRU3 has to be done manually through the ATT/HDG selector switch of the SWITCHING panel.

NOTE : The DMC uses both ADIRU1 (or 2) and ADIRU3 for the lateral
____ animation of the speed vector in order to decrease the error.
 (2) ADIRU : ADR (Ref. Fig. A004) The ADR bus selection follows exactly the same rules (using the AIR DATA selector switch of the SWITCHING panel for the reconfiguration on the ADIRU3).
 C. FAC Bus Selection
(Ref. Fig. A005)

 Each DMC receives the FAC 1 and 2 buses. The FAC1 or FAC2 bus selection inside each DMC is done automatically according to the logic given in the table below:
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------| FAC 1 VALID | FAC 2 VALID | DMC SIDE 1 | DMC SIDE 2 | |-------------|-------------|------------------------|------------------------| | Y | Y | FAC 1 | FAC 2 | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Y | N | FAC 1 | FAC 1 | |-------------|-------------|------------------------|------------------------| | N | Y | FAC 2 | FAC 2 | |-------------|-------------|------------------------|------------------------| | N | N | FAC 1 <----> FAC 2 | FAC 2 <----> FAC 1 | | | |permanent switching |permanent switching | | | |until finding one valid |until finding one valid | | | |FAC. |FAC. |
 D. ILS Selection (Ref. Fig. A006) The CAPT PFD displays the ILS1 data only when the F/O PFD displays the ILS2 data only.
 E. Radio Altimeter (Ref. Fig. A007) Each DMC receives and processes radio altitude data from both radio altimeters. The DMCs on side 1 select RA1 data as long as the RA1 bus is valid. If it is no longer valid, the DMC automatically uses the RA2 bus. It reverts to the RA1 as soon as it becomes valid again. If both RA1 and RA2 buses are invalid, the DMCs check through the 2 buses at each cycle until finding a valid one. A red RA flag is then displayed on the CAPT PFD. The same applies regarding the F/O PFD (replacing RA1 by RA2).

F. FCU (Ref. Fig. A008) The FCU is a dual unit, fully redundant with 2 processors 1 and 2. Normally, the processor 1 operates and the processor 2 is a hot spare. In case of failure of the processor 1, the processor 2 takes over and all the DMCs receive the same data as those sent by the processor 1. This loss of redundancy is annunciated on the ECAM DUs (STATUS). Briefly, the FCU bus X-A (1A and 2A) conveys EIS CP 1 (CAPT) selections, plus some AFS selections. The FCU bus X-B (1B and 2B) conveys the EIS CP 2 (F/O) selections, the remaining AFS selections, and both the CAPT and F/O baro reference settings. The DMCs on side 1 use the parameters from the buses 1A and 1B. The DMCs on side 2 use the parameters from the buses 2A and 2B. Each parameter to be used is checked separately for its validity. If one parameter is not valid, it is rejected but the other parameters from the same bus are still used as long as they are valid.
