______________________________________________
 1.
 General

_______ (Ref. Fig. 001, 002) The ECAM control panel (ECP) is a means of dialog between the flight crew and the ECAM system computers. It is located on the center pedestal, in front of the SWITCHING panel.

 2.
 Functional Description

______________________
 A. General When a key is pressed on the keyboard, the ECAM control panel puts the corresponding bit on the output bus. It will only illuminate the light located in this key when the order from the DMC is received ; and it presents the DMC with the on light configuration by a label on its bus, lighting depending on the status of the DIM and LIGHT-TEST discretes.
 B. Logic The ECP comprises an acquisition part, a processing part and a transmission part. The ECP keyboard is divided into two parts, one relating to the warning keys (CLR 1 and 2, STS, RCL, EMER CANC, TO-CONFIG), the other relating to the system keys (HYD, ELEC, COND, F/CTL, ALL, APU, PRESS, ENG, FUEL, WHEEL, BLEED, DOOR). The keyboard is connected to a discrete acquisition interface which also receives the DIM and LIGHT TEST aircraft discretes. The acquisition part also processes two high-speed ARINC 429 buses from the Captain and First Officer DMCs. The illumination commands of the lights are found on these buses. The processing part performs the good operation tests of the ECP. It takes the acquisition results into account to determine :
 -
the lights to illuminate

 -
the data to be transmitted on the output bus. The output bus has the data relevant to the warning keys on label 270 (the corresponding bit remains at one while the key is pressed or for eight label transmit periods). In the same way, label 271 contains system key information with the same coding condition as for the warning keys; and label 272 presents the lights configuration and the status of the LIGHT-TEST and DIM discretes to let the FWCs check the ECP. If label 275 is not received by the DMCs, label 272 is sent by the ECP with its SSM in No Computed Data. Moreover, the ECP output bus presents labels containing data relating to the self-test results. The power supply board is also monitored and supplies data concerning its operation: this data is put on the output bus, and is available on labels 155 and 156.

For the FWC, the output bus presents two labels coding the ECP software part-number and hardware part-number so that they can be transmitted to the CFDS when the CFDS asks for them. This data is found on labels 160 for the hardware P/N and 161 for the software P/N. One stage of some keys is directly wired to the connector to ensure availability of the main ECP functions ; these keys are : the CLR, STS, RCL, EMER CANC warning keys and the ALL key providing warning management and system page display, in case of power supply failure or CPU failure. ECP Output bus This comprises the labels :
 -270 (keyboard warning key status)
 -271 (keyboard system key status)
 -272 (lights and discretes status)
 -161 (ECP software P/N)
 -160 (ECP hardware P/N)
-155 & 156 (self-test results). ECP Input bus This bus from the DMCs contains a discrete label (275) in High-Speed ARINC 429 format. This label controls illumination of the ECP lights. A bit is associated with each light on this label (See Table). Nevertheless, as the ECP CPU receives two of three DMCs it must be ensured that the data received from the DMCs is consistent. This is done through the two bits of label 275, as per the following table :
 --------------------------------------------------------------------------| CODE | Bit No.28 | Bit No.29 | DMC meaning | |------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------------| | 2 | 0 | 0 | Mono display | |------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------------| | 1 | 0 | 1 | Manual STS or systems | | | | | or Advisory | |------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------------| | 3 | 1 | 0 | Engine/Warning | |------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------------| | 3 | 1 | 1 | Automatic STS or | | | | | systems | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
