the wind indication is always displayed in the left upper corner of the
ND). The figure referenced below shows a typical ND image.

 C. Failure Indications
 (1) Failure concerning symbols currently on display The relevant indication is removed. For the significant sensor failures, a failure message is displayed, in red color (sometimes amber), clearly indicating what is the lost information. This message first flashes during a few seconds to draw the crew's attention, then remains steady as long as the failure is present. The warning announcement disppears as soon as the failure disappears or the DMC uses another source providing the valid parameter (e.g.: switching IRS3/IRS1).

 3. ND Figurations
______________
 A. ND Modes Each pilot has 5 different modes of presentation on his ND at his disposal:
 -ROSE-ILS
 -ROSE-VOR
 -ROSE-NAV
 -ARC
 -PLAN

 **ON A/C ALL

In the three ROSE modes, the ND provides a display which is similar to that of a conventional horizontal situation indicator, i.e. a rotating heading dial orientated to the magnetic north and giving to the pilot the A/C actual magnetic heading with as reference the fixed yellow lubber line (item a) at the top of the dial.

 (Ref. Fig. 006)
 **ON A/C ALL

The ND display is always heading up. A yellow A/C symbol (Item b) at the center of the dial, is fixed and pointed up to the lubber line.

Small white triangles (Item c) are arranged in all 45. positions on

They are fixed and do not turn with the heading dial.

 **ON A/C ALL
The map in ROSE NAV mode and/or the weather radar image is scaled according to the range mark value selected by the pilot on his EFIS control section. Two range markers laid (Item d) on the 225. radial indicate the value in NM of the distance represented by the radius of the two range circles (inner and outer).
1EFF : ALL 1 31-65-00Page 21 1 1 Aug 01/05 1 1 1CES 1 These values are respectively the 1/4 and the 1/2 of the selected range (which represents a distance equal to that of the heading dial diameter).
