RADIO ALTIMETER SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This subject has three tasks. The tasks are a ground test, a system test, and a BITE test.
B. A test is provided in 34-33-00/201 which uses a ramp test set (radio altitude simulator). The ramp test set causes the radio altimeter R/Ts to output selected altitudes, altitude rate changes, and altitude error. You use these altitudes to do a test of the ground proximity warning system (GPWS) and other systems on the airplane.

2. Ground Test - Radio Altimeter System____________________________________
A. General
(1) This procedure does a ground test of the left, right, and center radio altimeters. You use the central maintenance computer (CMC) and the control display units (CDUs) to start and control the tests. You see the test results on the CDU displays and on the captain's and the first officer's primary flight displays (PFDs).

(3) Prepare the CDU for the test:
(a)
Push the MENU key on the CDU to show the MENU.
(b)
Push the line select key (LSK) that is adjacent to <CMC to show the CMC MENU.
(c)
If <RETURN shows after you push the LSK, push the LSK that is adjacent to <RETURN until you see the CMC MENU.
