C. The marker beacon receiver operates at a fixed frequency of 75 MHz.
3. Antenna
_______
A. The marker beacon antenna is shaped like a canoe hull and is mounted on the bottom center line of the airplane. It receives the 75 MHz signal and is connected to the receiver by a coaxial cable.
4. Marker Beacon Interfacing Systems

A. The marker beacon system interfaces with the following systems:

Integrated Display System (Ref 31-61-00)
(2)
Flight Interphone System (Ref 23-51-00)
B. Integrated Display System (IDS)
(1)
Components of the IDS that interface with the marker beacon system are the:
(a)
EFIS/EICAS interface unit
(b)
Primary flight display
(2)
EFIS/EICAS Interface Unit (EIU)
(a)
Three EIU's receive digital data from the VOR/MKR receiver and process this information to create marker beacon annunciations on the PFD's.
(b)
The left, right and center EIU's are located in the main equipment center rack E2.
(3)
Primary Flight Display (PFD)
(a)
The PFD is a multifunction indicator which provides displays for several electronic systems. The following paragraphs describe the displays for the marker beacon.
(b)
The PFD displays the marker beacon station identification as an alphabetical readout in the upper right hand corner above the glide slope scale.
(c)
The captain's PFD is located on the captain's instrument panel (P1). The first officer's PFD is located on the first officer's instrument panel (P3).
C. Flight Interphone System
(1)
The component of the flight interphone system that interfaces with the marker beacon system is the audio control panel.
(2)
Audio Control Panel
(a) Three audio control panels are used to select and control the broadcast of marker beacon tones from the VOR/MKR receiver when the APP knob is turned on and the channel selector is placed in the MKR position.
