 DO NOT OPERATE THE WEATHER RADAR WHILE THE AIRPLANE IS IN A HANGAR OR OTHER ENCLOSURE. MAKE SURE NO PERSONS ARE IN THE AREA 15 FEET OR LESS FROM THE ANTENNA WHEN IT TRANSMITS RF ENERGY. RF ENERGY CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (a)  
Set the WXR switch/indicator on each of the EFIS control panels to the on position.

 (b)  
Set the mode selector switch on the WXR control panel to the TEST position.


 NOTE:____Read through these messages before you do the test. If necessary, you can do the test more than once to do a check of the messages.

Make sure this PWS test sequence occurs in 0-2 seconds
 (Fig. 501):
 1) The Amber WINDSHEAR message on the NDs is off.
 2) The WINDSHEAR SYS (Advisory) message on the upper EICAS

 display comes on. 3) The WINDSHEAR PRED (Status) message on the lower EICAS
 display comes on. 4) The Aural Warning message is MONITOR RADAR DISPLAY. 5) A WXR test pattern is shown on both NDs.Make sure these indications occur in 2 to 12 seconds (Fig 501): 1) The Amber WINDSHEAR message on the NDs stays off. 2) The RED WINDSHEAR messages on the captains and first
 officers NDs and PFDs comes on. 3) A WINDSHEAR SYS (Advisory) message is on the upper EICAS display goes off. 4) The WINDSHEAR PRED (Status) message on the lower EICAS display goes off. 5) The captains and first officers master warning lights come on.
 6)  The aural message on the captain's and first officer's loudspeaker is one of the two messages below: a) Go Around-Windshear Ahead, (pause) Windshear Ahead,
 Windhshear Ahead.
 b) WINDSHEAR AHEAD, WINDSHEAR AHEAD. 7) A WXR test pattern shown on the NDs. 8) A 0 degrees tilt code message is on the captains and first
 officers NDs.When the test is complete, make sure that the WXR TEST message is on the NDs.Make sure the test displays on the NDs are as follows (See Fig. 501): 1) The tilt message on the ND will read 0 degrees. 2) A WXR TEST pass message shows. 3) The half range message shows in the center.
 NOTE: No gain message will be shown in the test mode.

 4) The range marks have equal space between them. 5) When the test pattern has completed the scan on the NDs,
 the self test is completed.Make sure the test pattern on each ND is as follows: 1) A green color band is at the bottom of the test pattern 2) A yellow color band is above the green band 3) A red color band is above the yellow band

 4) A magenta wedge is in the center.If external failures occur, an antenna tilt fault code message will show in place of the antenna tilt message on the NDs (See Fig. 502). 1) The tilt code messages on Fig. 502 identify which external
 LRU or condition is faulty. 2) Refer to the weather radar BITE procedures in the fault
