MARKER BEACON ANTENNA - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is the removal of the marker beacon antenna. The second task is the installation of the marker beacon antenna. After the installation of the marker beacon antenna, an operational test must be done.
B. The marker beacon antenna is found on the bottom of the fuselage at station 1025 (Fig. 401).

2. Marker Beacon Antenna Removal

(1) Spatula sealant removal tool, hardwood or plastic

D. Procedure

(1) Open these circuit breakers, and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7A9 NAV RADIO MKR VOR L

Remove the aerodynamic smoother from around the marker beacon antenna base (AMM 51-31-01/201).

If it is necessary, remove the aerodynamic sealant found on the head of each screw (AMM 51-31-01/201).

Remove the marker beacon antenna:
(a) Remove the antenna mounting screws
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE A SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL TO BREAK
_______ THE SEAL AROUND THE MARKER BEACON ANTENNA. TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR TO THE ANTENNA.
(b) Break the seal around the marker beacon antenna

Pull the marker beacon antenna out of the airplane to get to the coaxial connector
(d)
Disconnect coaxial connector DB36 from the antenna

Resistance measuring bridge or ohmmeter that can measure 1.0 ohm with an accuracy of |0.01 ohm.
