Set the captain's and the first officer's ND brightness controls as follows: 1) Outer knob - middle position 2) Inner knob - middle position

Set the switches and the controls on the captain's and the first officer's EFIS control panel as follows: 1) WXR switch/indicator - off 2) Mode selector - VOR 3) Range - 40 4) L ADF/VOR - OFF 5) R ADF/VOR - OFF

 4.  System Test - Weather Radar System__________________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  
The system test supplies a full test of the weather radar system but does not include some display tests. These display tests are in the operational test. Tests that show radar video must, if possible, have the airplane pointed so the antenna sector include hills and mountains.

 (2)  
The stabilization test is divided into two separate tests. The first test operates through the CMC and the CDU. An alternate test uses the IRU test switch. Each test makes sure the stabilization circuits in the weather radar are serviceable.

 (3)  
The weather radar control panel is referred to as the WXR control panel.

 (4)  
The system test has these parts:

 (a)  
The Prepare to do a Weather Radar System Test

 1)  The prepare to do a test must be completed before the system test can be done. But, the prepare to do a test procedure does not need to be repeated before each system test part.

 (b)  
The EIU Switching Test

 (c)  
CDU Alternate EFIS Control Panel Test

 (d)  
The Mode Test

 (e)  
The ND Display Test

 (f)  
The Terrain/Weather Switch Display Test

 (g)  
The Gain Test

 (h)  
The Antenna Tilt Test

Point the airplane away from all large metal objects and to an open area. The antenna scan can include hills or mountains at different heights in the distance.
