 GLIDE SLOPE TRACK ANTENNA - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This subject has two tasks. The first task is the removal of the glide slope track antenna. The second task is the installation of the glide slope track antenna. Parts of the ILS System Test must be done after the installation of the glide slope track antenna.

 2.  Glide Slope Track Antenna Removal_________________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  
There are two glide slope track antennas installed in the aft wheel well doors of the nose gear. The left and center dual glide slope track antenna (B559) is in the leading edge of the left door. The right dual glide slope track antenna (B561) is in the leading edge of the right door.

 (2)  
The removal procedures are the same for each antenna.

 (1)  Spatula - sealant removal tool, hardwood or plastic

 (1)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7A6 NAV RADIO MMR L
 2) 7B6 NAV RADIO MMR C
 3) 7B17 NAV RADIO MMR R

 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  Do this task to install door locks: Nose Landing Gear Door Lock Installation (Ref 32-00-30/201).

Remove the fasteners from the access panel to get to the antenna.

Remove the access panel.

Remove the fillet seal compound from around the antenna (Ref 51-31-01/201).

 (6)  
Remove the glide slope track antenna:

 (a)  
Disconnect the coaxial connectors to the antenna from the inner side of the aft nose gear door. The connector numbers are DB559 and DB559A for the left and center antenna and DB561 for the right antenna

 (b)  
Remove the nuts, washers and bolts that mount the glide slope track antenna to the aft nose gear door

 

 CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE A SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL TO BREAK
_______ THE SEAL AROUND THE GLIDE SLOPE TRACK ANTENNA. TOO MUCH FORCE OR A DIFFERENT TOOL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR TO THE ANTENNA.
 (c)  
Break the seal around the glide slope track antenna

 (d)  
Pull the glide slope track antenna out of the aft nose gear door.

 3.  Glide Slope Track Antenna Installation (Fig. 401)______________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  There are two glide slope track antennas installed in the aft wheel well doors of the nose gear. The left and center dual glide slope track antenna (B559) is in the leading edge of the left door. The right dual glide slope track antenna (B561) is in the leading edge of the right door.
