STANDBY COMPASS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is for the removal of the standby compass. The second task is for the installation of the standby compass.
B. The standby compass (N100) is installed on the forward overhead panel (P43).

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6E21 FLT DK LIGHTS PANEL GLARE SHIELD 2) 6L1 FLT DECK LIGHT STBY INST

CAUTION: USE ONLY TOOLS THAT ARE NOT MAGNETIC FOR THE REMOVAL AND THE
_______ INSTALLATION OF THE STANDBY COMPASS. MAGNETIC TOOLS CAN CAUSE INSTRUMENT DAMAGE.
(2) Do these steps to remove the standby compass:
(a)
Disconnect the DN100 electrical connector from the rear of the standby compass.
(b)
Hold the compass and remove the brass screws.

(1) Make sure these circuit breakers are open with the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
(a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6E21 FLT DK LIGHTS PANEL GLARE SHIELD 2) 6L1 FLT DECK LIGHT STBY INST

CAUTION: USE ONLY TOOLS THAT ARE NOT MAGNETIC FOR THE REMOVAL AND THE
_______ INSTALLATION OF THE STANDBY COMPASS. MAGNETIC TOOLS CAN CAUSE INSTRUMENT DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE STEEL SCREWS TO ATTACH THE COMPASS TO THE PANEL.
_______ STEEL SCREWS CAN CAUSE COMPASS INDICATIONS THAT ARE IN ERROR.
(2) Do these steps to install the standby compass:
(a) Align the standby compass with the holes in the P43 panel.

(b) (c) Install the brass screws to attach the standby compass to the P43 panel.Connect the DN100 electrical connector to the rear of the standby compass.
(3) S 864-008Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: (a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6E21 FLT DK LIGHTS PANEL GLARE SHIELD 2) 6L1 FLT DECK LIGHT STBY INST
